The Andrew “Red” Harrison Foundation begun installation of first of five 500-ton barge loads of 8’ concrete tunnels a mile offshore from the Jupiter Inlet. This reef is being built in partnership with the Palm Beach County Environmental Resource management and the Army Corp of Engineers. The tunnels will provide a habitat for large fish and protected areas for smaller ones.
Donations are still being accepted, depending on the amount raised, the structure could range from a 250 ton 14’ tall by 60’ in diameter to 500 ton 20’ tall, 90’ diameter. Forterra donate 2,500 of these culverts with a value of over $450,000. You can still help with this project by donating here.
