As the hot and humid weather approaches, you sweat more than usual; you require more fluid to stay healthy. And alcohol doesn’t count.
Here are 5 ways to stay hydrated in the heat:
- Start you day with oatmeal. It’s hearty filling and hydrating. Our favorite is oatmeal with blueberries, brown sugar and almond milk.
- Find carb alternatives. For example, ditch pasta and go with zucchini noodles… zoodles!
- Drink more milk. According to McMaster University milk is more hydrating than sports drinks or even water. Plus, it’s a source of calcium for strong bones.
- Sip Smoothies. Smoothies are a delicious way to stay hydrated and come in a never-ending variety of flavors.
- Eat more fruits and vegetables. Lettuce alone contains more than 90% water. Ever eat a cold mango on a hot day? We think there’s nothing better.
